Τον Νοέμβριο η Αθήνα έχει μια μεγάλη γιορτή (celebration · fête). Είναι ο Μαραθώνιος (marathon · marathon) της Αθήνας. Ο αγώνας (race · course) γίνεται στις 7 και 8 Νοεμβρίου. Φέτος θα τρέξουν (will run · courront) 85.000 δρομείς (runners · coureurs). Ποτέ δεν ήρθαν τόσοι πολλοί!
Οι δρομείς ξεκινούν (set off · partent) από τον Μαραθώνα. Τρέχουν 42 χιλιόμετρα (kilometers · kilomètres) μέχρι την Αθήνα. Ακολουθούν τον παλιό δρόμο (route · chemin) του Φειδιππίδη. Το τέλος (finish · arrivée) είναι στο Παναθηναϊκό Στάδιο (stadium · stade). Το στάδιο είναι τώρα σαν καινούργιο (new · neuf).
Η Αττική δίνει 15 εκατομμύρια (millions · millions) ευρώ. Με αυτά τα χρήματα (money · argent) ο δρόμος θα γίνει πιο ωραίος και πιο σύγχρονος.
Φέτος έρχονται και 20 πρωταθλητές (champions · champions) από άλλες χώρες (countries · pays). Στο τέλος κάθε δρομέας παίρνει ένα μετάλλιο (medal · médaille). Πάνω έχει ένα περιστέρι (dove · colombe), τον ήλιο (sun · soleil) και τη θάλασσα (sea · mer). Το περιστέρι σημαίνει ειρήνη (peace · paix). Οι δρομείς παίρνουν και μια τσάντα (bag · sac). Είναι από ανακυκλωμένο (recycled · recyclé) πλαστικό.
Ο Μαραθώνιος φέρνει πολλούς επισκέπτες (visitors · visiteurs) στην Αθήνα. Έτσι η πόλη έχει τουρίστες και το φθινόπωρο (autumn · automne).
In November Athens has a big celebration. It is the Athens Marathon. The race takes place on 7 and 8 November. This year 85,000 runners will run. So many have never come before!
The runners set off from Marathon. They run 42 kilometers to Athens. They follow the old route of Pheidippides. The finish is at the Panathenaic Stadium. The stadium is now like new.
Attica is giving 15 million euros. With this money the route will become nicer and more modern.
This year 20 champions from other countries are also coming. At the end every runner gets a medal. On it there is a dove, the sun and the sea. The dove means peace. The runners also get a bag. It is made of recycled plastic.
The Marathon brings many visitors to Athens. So the city has tourists in the autumn too.
